SURPRISE!!!!

I had Molly convinced that there was going to be no birthday party this year because of our upcoming ski trip (since we are leaving for Utah just 2 days after her actual birthday). But...

SURPRISE!!!

an ice cream and cake party at the Pink Dipper

"Happy Birthday to you..."

blowing out the candles with a little help from Carson

presents!

good friends!

more surprises...

molly & sydney
carson & cole

More surprises....cousins Sydney and Cole ( and their mom,
Jennifer) came to visit on Saturday to help us celebrate
Molly's birthday!

The kids played and played and played in the backyard
(mostly in the tree house planning their iMolly web-show)
while Jennifer and I caught up.

King for the Week

Carson was the "king" in his class last week! He is standing by a life-size drawing of himself with lots of sweet notes from his teachers and classmates. Here are a few of the things his teachers and classmates had to say about him...

Mrs. Gillespie says "Carson is a great king."
Mrs. Jones says "Carson has cool shoes."
DJ says "Carson is my bestest friend."
Paris says "Carson is a good line leader."
William says "Carson is a good golfer."
Maggie says "Carson is a good artist."
Joe says "Carson is totally wicked."

Valentine's Day

Friday - school parties, baked our cake and Beth came to town
Saturday - the girls went shopping and the boys
hung out around the house
Saturday night - we took the kids to Parent's Night Out at the Y and then went out for dinner (at Nacho Mamas), drinks (a couple of beers at Pizza Joint) and dessert (take out from Boll Weevil)
Sunday - a little more shopping and lunch out
before Beth headed back to Greenville

Today, I started a new job...

just 5 miles from our house! I am still working in a nursing home. And still working 3 days a week while the kids are at school. I really liked my last job (working at a nursing home in McCormick, SC) but just wanted to be a little (or in this case, a lot) closer to home. I am happy to be done with my 40-mile commute but I don't like starting new jobs!
Some of the reason I don't like starting a new job...
* don't like not knowing names (patients or staff)
* get lost easily (nursing homes can be confusing)
* new paperwork & processes (some better, some worse than the last job)
* don't know who to go to when I need answers
Other than that, I had a good first day. Everyone was nice and helpful. So, I guess I'll go back Wednesday...

Super Bowl

The kids decide we should HAVE a Super Bowl party since we weren't going to one. So we made appetizers and finger foods for dinner (think cheese dip, mini corn dogs, grapes,...) and set up our tailgate in the den. We all bet on the game - even the kids had to put their $5 in if they wanted to join in on the fun. I was the big winner (2/4 quarters) but being the nice mom that I am, I decided to share some of my winnings with Carson (since he was the only one without a winning square). I have to say that betting on the game made them a lot more interested in what was actually going on during the game. The kids stayed up long enough to watch the 3-D commercial at half-time and thought it was pretty cool (even if we did look silly in our glasses).
