baby bird up-date

The baby birds were "born" on June 10th.

Molly called us at work to let us know they were here.

They are growing very quickly! According to my research, they should be able to start flying next week. And hopefully the whole family will fly away and give us back our porch/deck. They really have not been too much trouble - they let us come and go as we need to at the back porch door and don't mind if we sit out there while Jeff is grilling - but I am ready to not have to worry about the mama deciding to get one of my kids because they are making too much noise (Carson) or something...

Look what we found when we got home from the beach...

She is a mourning dove and has made her nest on some outdoor shelves on our back porch.

There are now 2 eggs in her nest. She is spending a lot of time there but has apparently become comfortable with us coming and going near her nest. She doesn't even fly away now unless we make a lot of noise or slam the door. If we are on the back porch, she will just sit there and watch us.

I will post more pictures when the eggs hatch!
