sisters & best friends!

-----
Beth road-tripped with us to the wedding. We shopped our way there - Mast General Store and World of Clothing in Hendersonville and Moe's and REI in Asheville. (Jeff was looking for new boot but didn't find any.) We checked in to the historic General Morgan Inn in downtown Greeneville, TN - where most of the guest were staying and where the reception was being held. We had so much fun running into friends in the lobby and on the elevator. I love weddings were everyone stays in the same place! The wedding was beautiful and the reception was a blast.

art show

Molly's art was chosen for an area wide art show at
North Augusta HS. Her artwork was one of several entries
from the 1st grade at her school.

1st assist

Molly's 1st soccer game was last night. Soccer at her age is a lot different than what we've been used to with Carson. They play positions and with a goalie. They also have referees who blow the whistle for every little thing (except offsides) - hand balls, shoes needing to be fixed, etc... They had a great time but lost 4 to 2...better luck next time.

Carson is playing baseball this year!

they have to hit off the tee.

playing 1st base
--------
According to Jeff, Carson had a great first game. He hit the ball after about 3 pitches during both of the innings. He played first base and tried to catch the balls that were thrown in his general direction. He needed a little help remembering to run the bases after each of his hits (but we worked on that at home after the game). He had a great time and is looking forward to more practices and games. He keeps telling me he likes baseball more than soccer this season because it is "new to him." Soccer starts in a week. We will see how they both go! Hopefully this will help Carson figure out which sport(s) to play next year.

Aiken Steeplechase

Beth came to visit last weekend. We took her to eat lunch at Trenton BBQ because we had heard it was one of the best in the state. And then the girls head to Aiken for the Steeplechase. (The boys stayed home because it was the opening day for baseball). We all enjoyed our first horse race! We walked around in the beautiful spring sunshine, saw the carriage parade and watched a couple of the races. Molly thought is was really cool because she was standing right beside the rail and the horses came by less than 10 feet away from her.

Carson has skateboarding skills....

Carson got a skateboard for Christmas from Aunt Boo (Beth).

He can now skate down the driveway without falling.

just for fun - click here to make your own

I don't know what I've gotten myself into...

When it was time to sign up for spring sports, Molly decided she was going to try soccer and Carson asked if he could play both soccer and baseball. Well, I decided it was OK for Carson to play both because soccer is on Saturdays and baseball is during the week. And I thought he needed to try baseball (even though I would rather watch soccer) so that he can decide which one will be his spring sport in the future. So, wouldn't you know, practices start this week and Molly has soccer practice at 5:30 tomorrow and Carson has baseball practice at 7:00. Doesn't his coach realize that bedtime at our house is 7:30?!?

Sunday - March 1

The kids went to 3 days of ski school - Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. The made great progress each day and were able to move up a little with each new lesson. The first day, they practiced putting their skis on, how to make a wedge, get on & off the lift, stopping and started skiing down Turtle Track.. The second day, they began to master the wedge, started working on making lots of turns, and added First Time and Bunny Hollow to their list of slopes. On the third day, they graduated to the Pay Day Lift and skied down Drift & Blanche. Molly also took a run on the Nastar course.

Friday - March 6

We all skied together on our last day. This is a picture of Jeff and the kids before we skied down the Pay Day run. It is a blue slope but we didn't tell the kids that until they were at the bottom. We also rode the Bonanza Lift to the summit and skied all the way down from the top of the mountain. The kids made tons of progress with their skiing during the week. We can't wait to go skiing again next year!
